July Update

Life keeps moving at quite a rapid pace. I can't believe I am over half way through my term here at Mountain View. Time just flies when you are having fun.

I am still in housekeeping at the moment and my new housekeeping supervisor will be coming in the end of August so that will be very nice to be relieved of some of those extra responsibilities.

The staff have been very active in the smmer we do alot of fun and invigorating things, such as hiking, kayaking, picnics, softball, and of course lots of volleyball. We had volleyball tournaments about a month ago those are so much fun but you are so worn out till they are over. My team was in 2nd place. We played a total of 14 games in a matter of 4 and half hours it was very intense.

We also had an outting for the residents we took them down to the pavilion and had burgers and potatoe salad and watermelon!! And they got to tour our new dorms!! Oh they loved it.

And every year Mountain View breaks the staff up into three groups and takes them on a paid staff day off. My group was so much fun and we went to Monticello which is Thomas Jeffersons house and plantation. Such a beautiful place. And then we went to Michie tavern and had lunch oh it was so delicious then we had a tour of the tavern and they had some shops along there. Then we went and hiked humped back rocks. Now that is a very strenuous hike. Straight up for 40 minutes. But the view is amazing you can literally see for miles. Then we headed back down and ate lunch in the park. It was an amazing day off and everyone was wore out till it was over.

Tonight 12 of us staff went out to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings that places food is really good!! Me and one of the girls shared a burger and some wings!! It was really nice to just relax and hang out with some random staff again!!

You can continue to pray for us as staff as we daily interact with the residents and their families and that we can show Christ to them by our every day lives!!

God Bless and continue to serve him where you are planted!!
Until next time!! ~Rose Mary

Chages Happen, Embrace them!!

The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those a hope in his mercy.
~Psalm 147:11

I want to always have hope in the Lord because if I hope in the Lord I will be happy in the Lord.

Life brings struggles and trials but it is how we respond to them and what we rely on while we are going through them is how the outcome will look like.

Ok. On to life here. We are keeping busy and the temperature is keeping us very warm. I just got back about a week ago from being home for a week. I went home to help my family move off the farm to a place on top of a mountain in the woods :) quite the difference and you can smell that when you walk out the door!
Old house

New house

It was quite interesting and something I never experienced before and don't care to experience again! But now that it is done I am happy with where we live and like our new house.

Here at Mountain View I am still in housekeeping and I still enjoy it very much!! We have some extra work right now with the flower beds and water fountains and ect. but it is good and I love being busy.

We as doormies went out for a night in town!! Oh we had so much fun. We went to a fancy restaurant and then went shopping and took pictures!! Oh we had a blast!! Here are some of the pictures we took!!

What a good group of women!! Couldn't ask for a better dorm!! Love them all!!

I haven't had many days off with groups right now because of going home but next week I will again!!

Well that is all for now!! Until Next Time!

June Days off!!

Wow June already!! Where does the time go? But I don't mind that life keeps moving on because otherwise I would get bored :).

We have had 2 farewells (when people leave) in May, and it is so hard to say goodbye to staff that you know very well , but it is always exciting to see new people come and adjust to the life here. I was the photographer at both farewells oh that is so much fun to take pictures of people!!

Our one day off was all girls and we decided to go to a cabin that one of our administration owns. Oh it was so much fun we stayed up until 2 in the morning playing games!!|
This picture is missing three wonderful ladies because they had to get back and work. That morning we made breakfast burritos and just sat around the table and talked!! Then we headed back to Mountain View and did our own thing the rest of the day!!

I have been staying really busy in the housekeeping department because of the dorm changing around and making sure they are clean before people move in. But it keeps me stepping and I don't mind that at all.

Another day off we went down to the pavilion and made a fire and ate breakfast down there and sat around and chatted. Then we went to the new guys dorm/old girls dorm and cleaned :) then we decided to go to starbucks and play games but when we got there it was full so we took the seats out of the van and made them all face each other and palyed games in the van. Oh that was lots of fun!

Today two of my friends and I went and did something very random after work. We went to Culpepper and just window shopped none of us needed or wanted anything but we decided to get out and away!! Oh it was lots of fun going through stores and commenting on things and not buying anything!! Then we came to a little corner diner and decided we were hungry and went in and ordered trout!! It was really delicious!!

~Rejoice and be glad for this is the day the Lord hath made~

April And May!!

It has been over a month since I wrote a blog post. Alot has happened since then just to name a few....
• 5 weeks ago I went to the ER because I fell during volleyball and sprained my shoulder and I couldn't work housekeeping for over a week.
•we moved into the new girls dorm finally!!
•I have been home twice in the past month!!
•my family bought a house and we are moving in July.
•a day off group I was along with went pontooning and we all got sunburnt really bad.

•We have a nursing student program here at the home and I went to one of the girls graduations about two weeks ago it was so exciting to watch her get a diploma she worked 4 years for. I was her photographer and it was so much fun hanging out and laughing with her and the other nursing students (and I got to know them all better)
•I ate at a thai restaurant for the first time and found out eating exotic food is exciting and delicious!! And sharing it with good friends makes it even better!!

Life has been busy exciting and fun here I continue to enjoy it immensely and wouldn't trade the experience for anything!! There are weeks when it is difficult to be away from my family especially as they are getting ready to move but I am happy to be where I am because I know it is where God wants me right now.

A few pictures......
Found this picture and it made me smile!!

I saw this plaque when shopping one day and thought it was very true.
Random walks with friends!! And picking wild roses!!
VA has such beautiful scenery!!
Photoshoot with one of my beautiful best friends!!
Picking a bouquet of flowers off the trees and giggling the whole time and people looked at us funny but we didn't care!!
Hiking two miles to see these gorgeous water falls!!
Beautiful dogwood flowers we get to enjoy!!
And all the beautiful wild flowers we get the privilege of having near by.

I am so thankful for the life I get to live!! I am richly blessed!! And all the amazing people I get to work and live with every day!!

I hope you all have an amazing week and month!! Until next time!!

As Unto the Lord?

Do we know how much we cost? No I am not thinking of how much money we spend on ourselves ,I am thinkig of how much our Savior Jesus Christ went through so that we could have eternal life with him!! Do we really grasp how much pain he went through before even being hung on the cross? If we would actually understand the pain he went through we wouldn't even hesitate to give our whole lives and hearts to him and to surrender all we have and all our lives to his service.

The main reason we as humans were placed on this earth is to bring honor and glory to our Lord through all that we do and say. One of the things I have learned while being at Mountain View. We should do all our work and everything we say "As unto the Lord" so if I think about that while I am working that if God would be standing here watching me or if this was God's house would I do it this way?

Maybe that got off subject a bit but it is something that has been pressed on my mind lately. When we get to the end of our life will we look back in regret because we lived our lives in selfishness and pride or did we live it "As unto the Lord"? Some thoughts to ponder!!
Until next time!!

Chorus Tour

Wow ot has been a whole month since I wrote in here. Life just flies by when you are having fun!!

We have done alot since I wrote!! Last week on Tuesday we came home from a 5 day chorus tour!! I have been on quite a few tours but this one was just amazing and the best one yet!! We left at 5 Friday morning and hit some bad weather 3 hours into the trip and the bus did some fishtailing but God worked a miracle and set us straight again!! And we saw many miracles on that trip one guy had a really bad stuffy nose and every time we would get up to sing it would just go away.

This was our itinerary:
Friday March 20 Shipshewana, IN
Saturday March 21 Lansing MN
Sunday March 22 Kalona IA
Sunday March 22 Seymour MO
Monday March 23 Calico Rock AR

It was very full and busy but lots of fun and we made tons of good memories!! On Monday we went to Lambert's cafe where they throw hot rolls and their good portions are huge we shared them between two people. It was so good and it was nice to have a relaxing day.

We then Headed to Hillcrest Nursing home and had a tour and a Q&A session. The. We got ready and headed on to CBS. Bible school to give a program and then we were goingg to drive through the night.

Our program that night was amazing!! The presence of God was very much felt and the songs just popped out at us. We then got changed into more comfortable clothes and loaded on the bus and headed for home!! We left CBS at 10:30 and people were so keyed up that they didn't fall asleep until 12:00 I fell asleep almost right away and slept until 2 then I slept in and out until we stopped at 5:30 to switch drivers and we all got a bathroom break then too. And amazingly the bus stayed quiet until 10:00 and then at 10:30 we stopped at Cracker Barrel for breakfast in Kentucky. Then we only had 6 more hours to go!! We were all so happy that we drove through the night because then most of the driving was done!!

It was an amazing trip and not one I will not forget too soon and I got to know the people SO much better and it was such a spiritual enrichment in my life!!

Well that is all for now!! I hope ya'll have a good week!! God bless!! ~Rose Mary

Three Month Mark!!

Today is March 1st already it just seems amazing at how fast time is just flying. Today it is 3 months that I have been living away from home. I just can't believe that it has been that long already.

My supervisor was gone this week, so I was holding the housekeeping end of things running 😃 I had help most of the days , but I did end up working by myself 2 days but that will soon become the normal because when Shirley (my supervisor) becomes dean she will have alot of other responsibilities.

On Monday I went to the chiropractor, and then afterwards Anita (the dean of women) and I went out to eat at a Mexican restaurant!! It was so good and they give us fresh salsa and homemade chips for an appetizer!! I ordered a salad with spicy chicken and Anita ordered stuffed jalapeños!! We had so much fun and good conversation to go with the food!!

We had volleyball tournaments this week and people sign up then they split them up into 6 teams!! My team when we went into the playoffs were at the bottom ,but we slowly worked our way to the top and then to victory!! People were so amazed we won and so were we 😃 but it was good and lots and lots of fun!! But now their are many people complaining of sore muscles!!

Also this week we had another farewell there was four people farewelling this time so we had a huge crowd of people. They had speeches and Mountain View gave each one a certificate and plaque!! Then afterwards we all came down to the dorm and they opened presents from all of us girls!! It was quite the night.

Well I hope ya'll have a good week!!
